Mercedes-Benz has kickstarted 2021 by launching the S-Class Maestro Edition at Rs 1.51 crore (ex-showroom). This variant is based on the S 350 d and comes with a host of new features and technology. Here’s where it sits in the S-Class’ lineup: Mercedes-Benz S-Class Price (ex-showroom) S 350 d Rs 1.38 crore S 450 Petrol Rs 1.44 crore S 350 d Maestro Edition Rs 1.51 crore The S 350 d Maestro Edition, which costs Rs 13 lakh more than the standard S 350 d, is the new top-end variant. The main addition here is Mercedes’ Me connected car technology. Apart from the usual functions such as vehicle tracking and SOS emergency calls, Mercedes offers three new features in the S-Class. Let’s take a look: Alexa Home Integration You can link your Amazon Alexa smart speaker or phone app to the S-Class and operate certain features. For instance, you can lock/unlock or even operate the climate control functionality from your smart speaker. All you have to do is say, “Alexa, Ask Mercedes to turn on the climate control” or whatever the command of your choice. Google Home Integration Fret not if you own a Google device instead of an Alexa smart speaker as Mercedes has you covered. The above mentioned integration can also be done with Google devices. We hope Mercedes is working on the same for iPhone and HomePod users to keep Apple consumers happy. Spotting A Parking Location Mercedes Me will make the life of your chauffeur a tad easy as it can show free parking lots across various cities. It can be spotted in the navigation system and the directions will be pushed once you select your desired parking lot. The Maestro Edition also comes with a panoramic sunroof with what Mercedes calls ‘Magic Sky Control’. One can individually control the transparency of both the panels to adjust the amount of light entering the cabin. It also comes with powered front seats, but the driver can also control the co-driver seat if needed. A host of cosmetic enhancements are also on offer. You can now opt for Nut Brown leather interiors with a Diamond White exterior shade, which was earlier offered in the Maybach variants. It also gets a new gloss brown eucalyptus wooden trim. Last but not least, it comes with a new exterior colour: Anthracite Blue.
This new variant is based on the S 350 d that means it’ll utilise the 286PS/600Nm 3.0-litre diesel engine that drives the rear wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. It’s no slouch though as it does 0-100kmph in six seconds. This is likely to be one of the last few updates before the S-Class’ successor arrives in the second half of this year. The S-Class locks horns with the BMW 7 Series and Audi A8L.
