The event is the third large-scale auto show that is being cancelled due to Covid-19 outbreak.
Previously, the organisers shifted the show to June 2020 from January this year, in order to lower the cost of the automakers.
Supporting the move, Ford Motor Company in a statement, said that it fully supports NAIAS organizers' decision to postpone the event.
Previously, the Geneva Motor Show was cancelled due to the outbreak of the virus. The New York Motor Show too was postponed till August from April due to the crisis. The Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, where the New York Motor Show is held, is being repurposed into a makeshift hospital.Automakers in the US like the rest of the world have shut their plants due to the Covid-19 outbreak and the lockdown imposed by the governments in a bid to contain the spread of the virus.
