After removing the covers from the vehicle that will succeed the Huracan, the Italian manufacturer has shown the vehicle.

Lamborghini has shown the new super sportscar that will serve as the foundation for the next-generation GT3 racer that the company will produce.

The Huracan road and race cars have been replaced by the Lamborghini Temerario, which was introduced on Friday in Monterey, California. The Temerario is the successor for the vehicles in the line of the Italian manufacturer.

The Huracan GT3 EVO2 will be replaced by the racing variants in 2026, while the Super Trofeo EVO2 vehicle will be replaced by the one-make version the following year.

The Lamborghini Squadra Corse in-house competition department, which is also responsible for the Huracan racers and the SC63 LMDh prototype that began racing in the World Endurance Championship and the IMSA SportsCar Championship this season, will be the one responsible for developing these vehicles.

Although the Temerario is a hybrid with a powertrain that is rated at little more than 900 horsepower, the GT3 racer will not contain the three electric motors that are found in the road vehicle. Additionally, in accordance with the specifications of the category, the racer will have two-wheel drive rather than four-wheel drive.

The chief technical officer of Lamborghini, Rouven Mohr, who is now serving as the head of motorsport following Giorgio Sanna's resignation, has also clarified that there are no intentions to put hybrid technology into the Temerario Super Trofeo, which is a one-make vehicle.

He is quoted as saying, "As long as you include high-voltage [systems], you exclude a significant number of customers."

“Customer racing is the baseline and we have to do a car that the teams can operate.”

The Temerario, like the Lamborghini LMDh, is powered by a twin-turbo V8, although Mohr maintained that they were not the same motor.

“We are super-proud of the street V8, but the LMDh engine is a stand-alone unit produced by Lamborghini only for that car,” he stated.

The street engine, with all of the intricate components that we have included into it, will serve as the foundation for both the GT3 and the Super Trofeo.

The four-litre street engine rated at peak power of 790bhp revs to 10,000rpm, but Mohr confirmed that this wouldn’t necessarily be the the case with the GT3. You may also read this: Spa 24 Hours: Ferrari Blocked, But Aston Martin Wins

“It has to be modified, so let’s see if the high-revving makes sense or not,” he stated.

“If you have to limit the power output of the car to 520-530bhp [the baseline figure in GT3] we will have to see what is the best compromise between driveability and efficiency.”

The Temerario GT3 will begin testing next year ahead of its introduction to consumers for the 2026 season.

Mohr noted that the amount of vehicles that need to be constructed for the Super Trofeo explains the one-year lag between the release of the two race variants of the Temerario.

The Huracan GT3 was the first racer to be created by Lamborghini Squadra Corse following its foundation in 2013.

It was launched to consumers in 2015, with the EVO and EV02 variants due in 2019 and ’23 respectively.
